Darn It All! Mending Bee

Past event
Feb 3, 2024, 10 AM to 1 PM

Do you have a shirt missing a button, a favorite wool sock with a hole in it, or pants needing a new hem? Don't we all? No need to get rid of these items—or repair them all by your lonesome—when you can fix your clothing and accessories in the company of friends and neighbors.

Beginning on February 3, bring your projects and learn new skills at Darn It All!, a monthly mending bee at the Rockingham Free Public Library, at 65 Westminster Street in Bellows Falls. Darn It All! happens every month, on the first Saturday of every month, from 10:30am - 1pm. Admission is free and open to all, regardless of whether you live in Rockingham; attendees age 16 and younger must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Are you a veteran mender who has piles of books about the art of darning? Have you never threaded a sewing needle in your life? Excellent! People of all skills—or none—are encouraged to attend.

Bring your clothing and accessories that need repair. The Darn It All! organizers and attendees may have tools to share, but it's best you bring your own.

Darn It All! is not only for those repairing their clothes and accessories; it's also for those who are knitting, sewing, or doing other fiber arts.

What Darn It All! isn't is a tailor shop. While we love skill-sharing, and someone there may choose to help you if they have time and the particular skills needed, Darn It All! is strictly do-it-yourself, and you alone are responsible for your repairs.

Darn It All! organizers and Bellows Falls residents, Lydia Daum and Wendy M. Levy, created this mending bee to provide a dedicated time to repair clothing and accessories to extend their use, to learn and share mending skills, and to do this in the company of new friends and old.
