The Housing Coalition of Southeast Vermont is holding a candlelight vigil to remember those in the area who have died in the last 12 months without a home. Attending will be homeless and formerly homeless Vermonters, service providers, homelessness & housing advocates, faith communities, and other concerned citizens from Windham County. A "Chorus of the Community," led by Peter Amidon, will sing as a part of the remembrance. Candles provided.
The event is one of many being held throughout the state on January 18 as a part of Homelessness Awareness Day. Another part of the observance is the placing of flags in communities around the state representing the number of people who have experienced homelessness during 2023. Southern Windham County's flag display will be on the front lawn of the Municipal Center beginning Thursday morning.
