Title: Amnesty International Write For Rights Event
Champlain Valley Amnesty International will host a Write For Rights event for local activists to call attention to the harassment and jailing of individuals at risk and to call on governments to protect their rights. This event will be held on Saturday, 12/2 at the Fletcher Free Library in Burlington, 10 am – 2:30 pm.
Write for Rights is the world's largest human rights letter writing event. Every year around Human Rights Day on December 10th, hundreds of thousands of people worldwide write letters on behalf of prisoners of conscience, human rights defenders, and others at risk of human rights violations. This year the campaign features people from around the world, all of whom are connected because their human rights have been violated.
Letters have the power to change lives, and throughout Amnesty International's 61 years of human rights activism, many people have been freed because of the action taken by activists who participate in Write for Rights. We write sample letters, composed by Amnesty International, to help change the minds of decision makers.
Please join us and make a difference in the lives of those who have no voice.
