When: Thursday, November 2nd, 7:00pm
Where: Vergennes Firehouse
The Emerald Ash Borer beetle has been identified in Addison County and all ash trees in Vergennes have the potential for being infected and killed by this insect.
The city will be responsible for cutting down and removing all ash trees on city property and the right-of-ways along city streets. This will have an impact on our neighborhoods negatively affecting heat mitigation (shade), water runoff, aesthetics, and property values.
Led by Vermont Urban & Community Forestry Program staff Joanne Garton and Adam McCullough, the meeting will provide information on this insect, its affect on ash trees and how Vergennes residents can plan for its impact. Most importantly, homeowners can have a role in the replacement of trees through upcoming grant funding to grow the urban tree canopy in the downtown and in their local neighborhoods.
All are welcome to attend the discussion along with our city manager and tree warden Ron Redmond and Jim Larrow from the Vergennes Public works department.
