In 1963, Burlington residents voted to approve an urban renewal project that transformed the heart of downtown, replacing a predominantly residential neighborhood known as "Little Italy" with modern retail space, offices, and hotels. The results of this economic redevelopment continue to reverberate today. Join Champlain College students as they present the results of their research and creative inquiry into Burlington's urban renewal, past and present.
A collaboration between Champlain College and Preservation Burlington, this project is funded by a Humanities Research for the Public Good grant from the Council of Independent Colleges and the Mellon Foundation. This showcase event is made possible by a generous donation from Pat Robins and Lisa Schamberg.
