Friends. Townspeople. It's gonna be cold and rainy tonight and tomorrow night, and I have the perfect place for you to go where you can smile, laugh, and be uplifted by the student-athletes at the Green Mountain Valley School, in Waitsfield, as they present the legendary Broadway play, DAMN YANKEES!
Set squarely in 1955, this is the story of middle-aged real estate agent, Joe Boyd, a long-suffering fan of the pathetic Washington Senators baseball team, and his loving wife Meg who laments that her Joe is only emotionally available the 6 months of the year that baseball is not in season! One night, after Meg goes to bed, Joe's left grumbling that if the Senators just had one good long-ball hitter, they could beat those DAMN YANKEES. Suddenly, the smooth talking Mr. Applegate (the Devil) appears and offers Joe a deal. He will turn Joe into the phenom hitter the Senators desperately need, and in return Joe agrees to sell his soul and leave his home and wife forever. Many plot twists ensue, and I can't tell you what happens because then you won't be surprised!! Did I mention Señorita Lolita Banana, yet? Come see the show, you'll love it!! Last night was opening night, and it was sensational.
