Brookfield Bees is gearing up for the fall cider season! We will be at the Market Day at the Brookfield Old Town Hall, Sunday Oct. 1, noon-3pm with many other mostly Brookfield vendors. In addition to our honey, maple syrup, beeswax, candles and soap, we will have fresh cider for sale.
Despite a hard freeze in May, 2023 has been a pretty good year for apples here in central Vermont. Some of the trees we usually pick had no apples whatsoever. Others were loaded. It all depended on the stage of the bloom when it fell to 23 degrees. Last year we only picked 6 boxes of apples. This year we have 12 full, with more to come (about 3 tons). The apples are all now "sweating" in their boxes, developing sugar.
If you want the full cider pressing experience, we will be having an Open House Cider pressing on Oct. 7th and 8th, 11am-3pm at 1148 Kibbee Rd in Brookfield.
