On September 16, at 2:00, Progressive voters in Shelburne will gather at the Pierson Library to elect a local town committee and officers, delegates to the county committee, and discussing issues affecting Working Vermonters.
Why are town caucuses important? Every two years, state law requires each major party to "reorganize" themselves, convening caucuses across the state, electing local officers, and electing delegates to the county committees (which in turn elects members of the state committee). For a party to nominate candidates for the state house and senate, there must be a town committee in that district--meaning that, with one in Shelburne, Progressive candidates could represent us in Montpelier!
At a time of mounting crises affecting us all, a fighting Progressive Party is more important than ever. Town caucuses are a great way to get involved in our community, and to exercise power all the way from the grassroots to statewide level!
I look forward to seeing you on the 16th!
Solidarity,
Adam Franz
Chair, Progressive Town Committee
