Come help community members and local energy coordinators build low-cost window inserts so neighbors can be cozier this winter and reduce energy use. The event is Nov. 2-7 at the Waitsfield UCC Village Meeting House. Recipients of insulated window inserts pay a modest fee and also volunteer to further reduce costs. However, many elderly participants are unable to volunteer. So if you have a few hours to spare, please sign up for a slot at https://signup.com/client/invitation2/secure/1012624820031/. Shifts are available mornings, afternoons, and evenings on each day. It's a very fun, hands-on community project!
WindowDressers owes its success to volunteers. Here are a few reasons why volunteering with WindowDressers is a unique and rewarding opportunity:
· Making a Direct Impact: By creating these window inserts, you directly help families save on heating costs during the harsh Vermont winters.
· Community Bonding: Volunteering with WindowDressers is not just about energy efficiency; it's also about fostering a sense of community. Our volunteers often form strong bonds while working together towards a common goal.
· Hands-On Learning: Whether you are a seasoned carpenter or have little DIY experience, our workshops offer valuable hands-on learning and skill development opportunities for everyone involved.
· Environmental Stewardship: By supporting energy-efficient solutions, you actively contribute to reducing carbon footprints and promoting sustainability in our region.
· Fun and Fulfillment: Volunteering should be enjoyable, and we strive to create an inclusive, friendly, and fun atmosphere for all our volunteers. The sense of fulfillment after completing a project is truly remarkable.
What happens at a build? The wooden frames have already been cut, and volunteers are needed to finish them off with tape, poly, foam and glue. You'll be trained by a volunteer shift supervisor at the beginning of your scheduled shift. All you have to do is show up and enjoy the camaraderie while you carry out simple tasks and enjoy delicious snacks. No experience necessary.
Please consider sparing some time to volunteer with us this season. Whether you can contribute for a few hours or dedicate more of your time, every bit counts and will be deeply appreciated.
