This Saturday, August 5, brings another Montpelier Contra Dance! And this one is preceded by a free barbecue/potluck/picnic event.
After you've had a nice meal, we'll follow up with great music and enjoyable social dancing. We'll start with the usual instruction/refresher lesson, taught by Julian Blechner from Western Mass, our caller for the evening. If you are new to contra dancing, make sure you arrive around 7:30 so you can clean your shoes off or change them, before the instruction session which starts about 7:40. Contra dancing for everyone will happen from 8:00 to 11:00. Live music by another great band: Crossover: Alex Cummings on accordion and piano, Carol Bittenson on fiddle, and Len Bittenson on fiddle, viola and recorder. All dances will be taught by the caller!
Come to dance, as usual, at the Capital City Grange Hall, 6612 VT-12, Berlin VT 05602, just one mile south of Montpelier.
If you've been to our fun dances, consider this a reminder. If you've always wanted to try out contra dancing, we'd love to have you join us. If you want to see and hear what it's like, check out the videos of folks dancing in the Grange Hall at: http://capitalcitygrange.org/dancing/contradancing/. You'll also see our revised COVID protocols--we are now masks optional. We encourage mask-wearing by anyone who wants to, but will no longer require masks. If you feel sick, please stay away and join us at our next dance.
Contra dance admission prices: $12 for adults, $5 for kids & low-income folks, or be a "dance supporter" and give us $20, to help us pay the wonderful callers, musicians and sound techs for the great work they do. Choose what price matches your resources. We're happy to have everyone who comes, whatever you pay!
