Hippocrates, the great physician of Ancient Greece often known as the father of modern medicine, still rings true in his words, Let food be thy medicine, and medicine by thy food. Humans have long relied on our herbal allies to soothe our ailments as well as strengthen us in wellness. Many of the plants we witness around us on a daily basis, whether we perceive them as food, ornamentals, or weeds, can be used as potent medicine.
Join us for an introduction of some of these healing plant kin, held at ShareMRV's Gardens. We'll be discussing practices around gathering plant medicine, sampling teas, salves, and tinctures, and learning the handy benefits of a spit poultice. Budding herbalist and co-manager of the ShareMRV gardens, Marissa Alfiero, will be joined by local herbalist Emily Beliveau in demonstrating simple remedies and identification of medicinal herbs.
With hope, you will leave this workshop with a toolkit of plant knowledge to continue honing and looking towards. We will provide light and floral refreshments for a multi-sensory experience of herbal delight!
The ShareMRV gardens are located on the grounds of Lareau Farm & Forest, at 46 Lareau Road in Waitsfield. Please bring a chair or blanket to sit on if you'd like, and whatever questions you may have for our facilitators! As always, this workshop is FREE! Looking forward to seeing you there, and celebrating the many wonders of plant power.
