July 12, Wednesday at 7:00 the MADSONIAN hosts the Director of THE ENIGMA MUSEUM, who also is the world's expert on the secret code machines.
During world war two, both sides evolved encrypted messaging to maintain secrecy of their intent, positions and strategy. The most difficult and most critical for the ALLIES was the ENIGMA machine that was directing submarine warfare in the ATLANTIC causing enormous difficulties with troops and supplies from the US to Europe. An illustrated discussion with 4 code machines used in the war will highlight the evening.
The ALLIES had their own secret organization, the ULTRA, that was finally able to break the codes and intercept the messages. Admission to the museum and the presentation is $5.00. We look forward to seeing you here!
