The Monkton Museum and Historical Society and the East Monkton Church are pleased to announce a:
MEMORIAL DAY 2023 TRIBUTE EVENT
In honor of Civil War Union soldier AUGUSTUS T. COX of Monkton, Vermont
We will hear from Augustus in his own words, as we share letters he wrote to his family with love for them and his hometown of Monkton. These letters were donated to the MM&HS from the Cox descendants and will be read and shared with a slideshow presentation.

Time: Presentation 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Place: East Monkton Church, Church Rd. East Monkton

WOUNDED MAY 5, 1864 (Wilderness, VA);
DIED OCT. 22, 1864 OF WOUNDS RECEIVED OCT. 19, 1864 (Cedar Creek, VA);
Augustus was buried at the Beers Cemetery in Monkton
