Ever wonder what goes into keeping your favorite trails in great shape? Interested in getting more involved with volunteering, or just looking to learn a new skill? We still have space available in our Trail Maintenance 101 Workshop on Monday, May 22, from 2-5pm! We'll be joined by trail pros from Green Mountain Club, who will offer a broad overview of: trail tools, safe handling, and care; basic principles of digging, identifying, and clearing drainage structures; using a handsaw to clear blowdowns; monitoring blazes and trail signage; brushing in user trails; repairing tread; identifying and assessing structures on the trail in need of repair. We'll be learning on the ground using the trail as our class-room!
More information can be found on our website: https://www.stowelandtrust.org/news-events/events/rsvp/trail-maintenance-101-workshop.
And check out our events page for other great programs and volunteer opportunities, all summer long!
