The Richmond Conservation Commission and the Andrews Community Forest Committee are hosting a Forest Management and Birds walk on May 20th from 9-12 at the Andrews Community Forest. The walk will be led by Ethan Tapper (Chittenden County Forester) and Tim Duclos (Forest Program Senior Associate at Audubon Vermont). We will visit recently managed areas, including patch cuts, and discover what birds might be utilizing this new habitat during peak nesting season.
When: May 20th 9-12
Where: Meet at the ACF Parking area
Who: Anyone is welcome to join
How: Please sign up using this form
Things to consider:
There is limited parking at the ACF. Carpooling is encouraged.
The hike to the forest management areas is a steep 20-30 minute walk uphill.
The trail can be muddy and wet, hiking boots are a good idea.
It's tick season and the ACF has a high density of ticks. Take proper precautions and be sure to do a tick check when you get home.
Bring your own binoculars, bird guides, water and snacks.
If you have any questions please contact Daniel Schmidt (schmidt.danielpaul@gmail.com)
We look forward to seeing you on the 20th and are grateful for this opportunity to explore our community forest with you!
