Death can be a very private affair--and yet, an obituary is a very public story that gives many people in the community a chance to remember a neighbor or a friend. It gives a fuller story of someone they might have seen here or there around town over the years; or it gives someone new to town a glimpse into who was there before.

In this workshop, we'll explore the elements that make an obituary the literal final word, including key information, appropriate tone, and ways to personalize it and condense a person's life into a limited space. We'll talk about how you can get a head-start on your own obituary--because really, what is an obituary but a short memoir?
