The Vermont Symphony Orchestra and the Vermont Marble Museum are hosting a concert and film screening of the 1984 film: "Men, Marble and Machines."
Tickets are $19.34 + fees, available at the Paramount Box Office. https://www.paramountvt.org
In 1984, well-known Vermont filmmaker Ken Resnick, was commissioned by the Vermont Marble Co. to create an 'industrial' film depicting the process of extracting and preparing marble for the marketplace. The result was a highly crafted work of art that won four festival awards and the international Golden Eagle Award for original score. The film opens with marble being quarried deep inside Danby Mountain Quarry. The Vermont Marble Museum presents this 24-minute documentary, presented for the first time since 1985 on a big screen.
VSO Conductor, Matt LaRocca, has been working with the film's music composer, Nicholas Scarim, to create an all-Scarim concert to complement the film screening. The concert includes "Casey at the Bat" featuring 20-time Vermont Sportscaster of the Year, Jack Healey.
The Vermont Marble Museum and Vermont Symphony Orchestra are cohosting this major event in honor of both organizations' former board chairs, Robert and Victoria Young. VMM thanks Sponsors: Carris Reels, Foley Services, Robert and Victoria Young, Hydro Quebec, RK Miles, and the Paramount Theatre and VT Historical Society for their help.
Proceeds from this event will benefit the Vermont Marble Museum. Please help spread the word! Thank you!
