The Progress Illusion with Jon Erickson
Wednesday, April 26, 7 pm
Richmond Free Library

What is "The Progress Illusion"? Come hear Jon D. Erickson, the Blittersdorf Professor of Sustainability Science and Policy at the University of Vermont, discuss the progress illusion of economics: a story centered on a very narrow caricature of humanity as greedy and independent; a story that assumes the Earth is limitless and at our disposal; a fairytale detached from biophysical reality and lacking a moral compass. The fate of people and planet depends on upending the illusion and writing a new story based on care, cooperation, interdependence, and stewardship. Jon's new book is "The Progress Illusion: Reclaiming Our Future from the Fairytale of Economics" and we look forward to welcoming him to the Richmond Library for this special Earth Day talk on Wednesday, April 26 at 7 pm. This event is free and wheelchair-accessible.
