The ACSD Board will be hosting a virtual "Meet the ACSD Superintendent Finalists" community forum on Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 6:30 - 8:00 pm. Each candidate will be invited for 45 minutes. This is your opportunity to meet the candidates, ask them questions, and provide confidential feedback to us to aid in our final decision.

ABOUT THE CANDIDATES:
Suzanne Gruendling is the Director of Policy Implementation for the Essex-Westford School District, where she has worked to develop and implement district-wide approaches to decreasing student truancy, supporting families, and addressing student behavior issues. Prior to her current position, Gruendling spent eight years serving as the principal of Summit Street Elementary School, where she initiated Professional Learning Communities and incorporated Multi-Tiered Systems of Support and Response to Intervention frameworks into school practice. She holds a Master of Liberal Arts Management degree from Harvard University and a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Vermont. Gruendling has extensive education experience in Vermont, including work as a math and sciences teacher, a building-based coordinator for special education, as well as elementary and middle school administration.
Barbara Anne Komons-Montroll has been the Superintendent of Windham Southwest Union Supervisory Union since 2018, where she oversees five schools across six towns, including a high school. She has been an educator in Vermont for over 30 years, including work as an elementary school classroom teacher in Underhill, as an elementary school principal in Worcester and Charlotte, and as the Director of Communications and Public Relations for the Champlain Valley School District. Prior to that, Komons-Montroll worked in early education as the Regional Director of Building Bright Futures of Franklin County. She holds a Master of Educational Leadership degree from the University of Vermont, and has served as Regional President of the Vermont Superintendents Association.
The Board will be meeting shortly thereafter to review community feedback and make its final selection. We plan to share the final decision with the community by the end of April 2023.
