Greetings all,
Town Meeting is fast approaching and we'll be voting on the 2025-26 MAUSD school budget on March 4th. Please join school board representatives Kristen Toy and Brad Johnson for a virtual meeting on Tuesday, February 12th from 7 pm to 8:30 pm to discuss the following important issues:
1. The proposed 2025-26 MAUSD budget,
2. The tax implications of the proposed budget,
3. The condition of the Mt. Abe roof, and
4. Staffing at Robinson for 2025-26
The good news is that while per pupil spending has increased by a small amount, overall spending is less this year than last year. There are NO ANTICIPATED REDUCTIONS IN FORCE among the professional staff across the district and NO PROGRAM CUTS. Importantly, we project that TAXES WILL DECREASE this coming year over last year.
The not-so-good news is that the systemic dysfunction of Vermont's education funding system remains and until Montpelier can implement reforms (other than simply cutting programs and closing schools), we will be faced on annual basis with a very challenging budget environment.
This meeting will be held virtually because similar in-person meetings at Robinson have been VERY sparsely attended. If you are unable to attend the virtual meeting for technical or other reasons, please do not hesitate to call Kristen (802-355-8633) or Brad (202-437-5164) with any questions or concerns you might have.
