Past event
Apr 18, 2023, 5:30 to 6:30 PM

Hi Neighbors: Calling all Nature lovers, please join Northeast Wilderness Trust to hear from "old-growth forest evangelist" Bob Leverett, who will take us on a virtual tour of treasured trees and forests in New England and New York. We'll learn about the many values of old-growth forests, from both a scientific and spiritual perspective. Bob's wife and partner Monica will offer supporting insights. This presentation is a must-see for all tree-huggers out there.

And, in just a few weeks, we'll be hosting Dennis Liu of the Half Earth Project. On April 25th, join Dennis Liu to learn about an ambitious and hopeful goal for global conservation, inspired by E.O. Wilson's call to protect half of our precious planet for the rest of nature. Half-Earth's goal of 50% is not reachable in the US through state and federal action alone. Conservation by non-profits, NGOs, and individuals—including the forever-wild lands Northeast Wilderness Trust protects—is needed. Dennis will feature stories of charismatic creatures like hummingbirds and dragonflies, and discuss how protecting one species often benefits others. He'll also talk about what each of us can do as individuals and as communities to support all of the miraculous species we love and need.
