This is a free, monthly space to gather with others who are interested in exploring ecological questions, emotional elements of climate change, ideas of change, building community, and creating a thriving world.
Each month we explore a different theme. The host provides some structure, but it is a fairly open format that leaves plenty of opportunity to discuss, share, and explore.
April's topic is Waste:
In ecological systems, one person's "waste" is another person's food—or shelter, or water, or new play thing. Nutrients are cycled through animal and plant bodies, through air and water bodies, and through outer space and the center of the earth in a complex ongoing exchange of co-creation.
Today, in our human cultural discourse, there is a lot of talk about "waste," whether it be plastic waste, food waste, sewage waste, nuclear waste etc.
What is waste? When is something waste, and not just nutrients in transition? Are there specific qualities of some human-designed materials or items that are uniquely wasteful? What about psychological waste? What thoughts, patterns, stories, and practices do you have, or our culture has that create waste in the world?
