Remember the influx of young idealists to Vermont in the '60s and '70s?
Marshfield author Dan Chodorkoff certainly does, as he evocatively demonstrates in his latest novel, "Sugaring Down." Chodorkoff will read from and discuss his novel and the times it chronicles at Barre's Old Labor Hall, 46 Granite St., on Sunday, April 16 at 3 PM. "Sugaring Down" tells the story of two young, urban activists as they struggle to build a new society on an abandoned farm in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom in 1968. A compelling and contemplative examination of 1960s counterculture, the novel deftly delves into the history of Vermont, including Barre's earlier radicalism. The event is free, with donations gladly accepted. The Old Labor Hall's Website is http://oldlaborhall.com/.
