The Friends of the Horticulture Farm will hold the 20th Annual Benefit Plant Sale, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., July 20, at the UVM Horticultural Research Center (Hort. Farm), off Green Mountain Drive, in South Burlington, VT.
As in years past, Vermont gardeners will have the chance to choose from a wide variety trees, shrubs, perennials and annuals donated by Vermont nurseries and greenhouses. Proceeds from the sale are vital to support plant collections maintenance and site enhancement projects at the Hort Farm and The Friends’ successful student intern program.
Expect many choice donations including many bright perennials in bloom, fruit bearing shrubs, dwarf conifers, and interesting vines. This year, over 50 retailers, growers and home gardeners are expected to contribute.
Members of The Friends get the first pick at the Members-Only Preview Sale from 9 to 10 a.m. A Membership Table will open at 9:00 a.m. for those who want to sign up at the last minute.
When the gates open to the general public at 10:00 a.m., there will still be plenty of attractive plants to choose from. And there will be knowledgeable gardeners and garden designers on hand to help the less-experienced pick just the right specimens or collection of plants for their particular gardening needs.
The Sale is held rain or shine! In the event of rain, bring your umbrella and good humor.
