Holy Week observances will continue this week at Stowe Community Church, and we would be honored if you could join us. All are welcome, in person at 137 Main Street, or through our live-stream at Stowecommunitychurch.org/live.
Our Maundy Thursday service - April 6th at 7:00 pm - will include readings, special music, Holy Communion, and interactive stations that focus on Jesus's final meal with his followers. The word "maundy" is a Latin word meaning "command" and this service reflects Jesus's commands to his followers to love one another. This is a favorite of many of our parishioners, for its reflective solemnity and beautiful rites.
On Good Friday -April 7th - we are hosting a brief noontime service of silence, meditation, and prayer.
Following that, and through the afternoon, our sanctuary will be open for individuals to participate in eight experiential stations that follow the final journey of Jesus to the cross. Each station includes a Scripture, prayer and action item themed around one of Jesus's final teachings or actions during Holy Week.
At 6 pm on Good Friday, we will host a community Good Friday service in partnership with St. John's in the Mountains Episcopal Church. This service is based on the seven last words of Christ from the cross and will include organ music, anthems from our choir, congregational hymns, and brief homilies from clergy members. It is a solemn service of reflection on the final hours of Jesus's life: his trial, crucifixion, and death.
