ART, etc. presents their April & May exhibits featuring the work of Rochester abstract artist Caroline Tavelli-Abar and Randolph photographer Marjorie Ryerson. This show features paintings, photography, and poetry created by each artist. These artists have created works that are personal, contemplative and global. This exhibit will be on view until May 26, 2023.
The title of Caroline Tavelli-Abar's exhibit is Full Circle, which features ink and watercolor images that shares a journey through incredibly stormy times, emerging with a renewed sense of resilience, vulnerability and courage. Her figure works are thought of as self-portraits navigating mental illnesses from depression to bipolar disorder and beyond. Her large abstracts honor the changing seasons. Caroline's poetry and the invisible words share a profound love of something magical in all of us. Together these works explore time, nature, our humanity and speak to days of peace imbued with hope, and a renewed sense of adventure.
Mother Nature's Liquid Gift is a retrospective of Marjorie Ryerson's water influenced photography. Her photos in this exhibit are a small selection of the hundreds of water photographs from her global Water Music Project. Photographs from around the United States are included in this book, as well as poems and essays from world renound musicians including Emanuel Ax, Taj Mahal, Pete Seeger and Paul Winter. This is a very timely exhibit especially since water continues to be a vital subject. The planet continues to experience a global water crisis and these photos remind us of the scarcity, beauty and significance of what water means for life, growth and our future.
In addition, both artists have shared some of their own poetry in honor of National Poetry Month.
The public is invited to an Opening Reception on Friday, April 7th, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. Come meet the artists, enjoy live music and light refreshments. 26 N Main St., Randolph.
