Ms. Schachter works in acrylic paint and graphite on wooden panels. Her art continues to explore the relationship of the figure as a powerful organic image and how it relates to the environment that it exists in. The figurative images often depict women: open, exposed and vulnerable yet possessing an inner strength and fortitude. As she creates each piece, Amy pairs down the figure into a series of interlocking shapes and lines in order to encourage the viewer to use their imagination to connect the shapes and bits of recognizable elements to create a whole.
Jan Fowler has been moved by the beauty of landscapes her entire life - whether it's in the desert Southwest, European villages, or the Green Mountains of Vermont. She is fascinated by the patterns formed on the land by farming, by geological forces, by weather and water. The juxtaposition of mown fields and woodlands, alternating strips of corn and hay fields, the shadows of clouds on hillsides - all these and much more never cease to draw her attention. Jan's style continues to evolve as she explores the painted surface and experiments with new ways to visually express her feelings.
The public is invited to an Opening Reception Friday, October 6, 5-7pm. Meet the artists and enjoy music and refreshments. Come to Randolph for the evening and enjoy our First Friday's and a local Art Walk.
