Many towns held town meetings this week for the first time since Covid-19 closed down so much in Vermont. How was attendance? What happened? Is town meeting a historical relic of a bygone era, worth replacing entirely with Australian ballot voting? Or is it a cherished political opportunity to exercise democracy in a way that's more relevant than ever at a time when democracy is under threat? I'll put my views out there, and your phone calls are welcome. We'll also hear about a bill to require employers to give employees two hours of paid time off to attend town meeting.
