What: Keilani Lime will present "Ableism in the Arts," a brief lecture with an aim to engage her community on ableism in the world of art, as well as share her process as an abstract artist with disability who creates large format works on canvas. Lecture to be followed by open questions and light refreshments in the lobby which will include an exhibition of her recent works. 100 percent of art sales will cover the cost of previous brain surgery, recent spinal cord surgery, and upcoming hip replacement revision.
About the artist:
Keilani sits on the Lake Champlain Chamber Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, the Planned Parenthood of Northern New England Disability Community Advisory Board, and most recently the Vermont Democratic Party Disability Caucus. She holds a degree in fine art and has been painting professionally for over a decade. Keilani has a genetic connective tissue disorder, Classical Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, requiring over fifty procedures and major surgeries since 2016. Keilani lives in Vergennes with her fiancé, Dan, and loving mutt, Mookie Petts.
