Mother & Teen-Daughter Workshop at Expressive Arts

Past event
Apr 1, 2023, 9 AM to 4 PM

Story Cloth is visual storytelling workshop and a form of non-verbal self expression that can depict experiences of joy, inspiration and healing.

This workshop taps into a creative revival of passing on family stories, recovering dream imagery or making political statements in cloth as many cultures around the world have done for generations. A cultivated intimacy of togetherness occurs when mothers and daughters create together. The appreciation of materials chosen, the sharing of pins cushions the witnessing of each others process requires no words and harvests life long memories.

Come to the studio with your daughter or mother and stitch, tack, weave or hot glue your personal story in this six hour celebration of fabric, yarn and mixed media materials and togetherness.

Topaz Weis, REACE will be there to offer a framework for understanding Story Cloth across cultures and through time. She will help brainstorm and lend her expertise to any materials or technique challenges.
A mountain of materials will be provided and participants are encouraged to bring fabric trimmings, embroidery floss, buttons, beads, nature materials, etc.

Saturday, April 1st 9:00am to 4:00pm (one hour lunch break)
