We know it will be cold, but with 100 to 150 energetic dancers, the contra dance on Saturday evening at the Capital City Grange will be hot! Starting with an instruction/refresher session at about 7:40, with full-on dancing from 8 to 11:00, fun will be had, and you're welcome to join us!
For our first dance in February, Vermont-grown and Vermont-based caller Mary Wesley will be teaching and calling the dances, with music by the "Daybreak Trio". Anna Patton (clarinet), Owen Morrison (guitar/mandolin/feet) and Naomi Morse (fiddle) are well-known at our dances, and we look forward to their great tunes to keep everyone having a good time dancing!
We always love to have new folks join us, and you'll find all levels of experience at our dances. There are videos of folks dancing at the Grange Hall at: http://capitalcitygrange.org/dancing/contradancing/, if you want to see and hear what contra dances are like. At that webpage, you'll also see our COVID protocols--we so require good masks: N95, KN95/KF94 or medical/surgical masks. Please bring your own, we'll have some free ones on hand if needed. Of course, if you aren't feeling well, please stay home and get better, and we'll see you at the next dance on Feb. 18!
Admission prices: $12 for adults, $5 for kids & low-income folks, or be a "dance supporter" and give us $20, to help us pay the wonderful callers, musicians and sound techs for the great work they do. We appreciate everyone who comes, whatever you pay!
