Capital City Grange invites all to hear Stephanie Yu, director of the Vermont Public Assets Institute speak at our next Community Program, this Saturday from 5:00 to 6:00 at the Grange Hall--which is located at 6612 VT 12, Berlin VT--just south of the I-89 overpass if you're heading north.
Stephanie Yu will discuss the "2022 Public Assets Institute State of Working Vermont" report. The PAI conducts research, does fiscal analysis and develops policies that help apply the powers of government to improve the well-being of ordinary citizens, especially the most vulnerable. Steph will speak on what the statistics and trends shown in the 2022 report show about the impact of increased public spending on people's well-being, during a time when the pandemic stimulated a spirit of solidarity. Many people came to understand that economic and social needs are shared--and deserve attention and action, by communities, non-profit organizations and government. There will be time to ask questions and discuss the information she presents.
If you can't come in person, join us via Zoom:

From 6:00 to 7:00, stay for a potluck dinner (not available by Zoom, unfortunately). Keep talking about what we've just heard! Bring something simple to share, or a fancy dish you want to show off. All together, Grange potlucks are great places to taste a wide variety of cuisine. Bring a salad, a dessert, bread, cheese, chips, salsa, soup or whatever you want. We'll eat downstairs in the renovated lower level, on the Grange's assortment of vintage dishes! It will be warm and sociable.
