Relocalizing VT: Working Vermont

Past event
Feb 2, 2023, 9 to 10:30 AM

Coming up Thursday on Central Vermont Community Radio: Building on pandemic-inspired solidarity, and citizens working for a climate transition in the Vermont State House

9:00 - 10:00 am
Public Assets Institute (PAI) director Stephanie Yu will describe the opportunities to use the legislative budgeting process to advance social, racial, and economic equity. The talk will be based on PAI's "State of Working Vermont 2022" report, issued in December 2022. The report also describes how to build on the spirit of solidarity awakened by the pandemic, when many people came to understand that economic and social needs are shared—and deserving of collective attention and action, both by communities and government.

People For Climate Action VT works with the climate-change organization 350VT to get ordinary people into the State House, following climate change legislation. Sometimes just showing up with an identifying name tag can make a difference, says organizer Rebecca Dalgin. She'll talk about the experience of being a citizen advocate, and how you can join the group.
