Many people are concerned about the potential impacts of the 140 foot cell tower Verizon is proposing to build on a hill in the heart of Warren. The proposed tower will also be less than a mile from the airport and rise 70 feet above the treetops. Many gliders use the airport and often have to make crash landings in the fields all around where the tower is proposed to be installed. The Verizon proposal reveals that the principal purpose of the tower is to increase capacity to meet anticipated future demand (and not any current coverage gaps) and has not actively investigated its ability to co-locate the proposed antennas on several other cell towers already standing in the Valley.
