Ann and I are looking to collect heavy winter clothing: coats, vests, hats, gloves, scarves, socks, boots, blankets and sleeping bags to share with people in Burlington. Please stop by on Saturday November 26th, 12-2 at Moore Park in Underhill Center (across from the town hall) with your clean items. We will make sure these items are shared with folks who will really appreciate it.
Our plan is to take what we collect primarily to a distribution spot in Burlington, or pass them on directly to people with specific needs.
Food not Bombs, Burlington facilitates a daily gathering where anyone can stop by to share a meal as well as other essential items. This happens every day from 1pm-2pm at the back of the parking garage off of Cherry St (between S. Winooski and Church St.).
There are an increasing amount of people in Burlington who, especially this year, have less and less options for shelter on a daily basis and will need items to help keep warm throughout the winter. Please consider stopping by the Cherry St. distribution site, not just to drop off items yourself, but to share conversation and food. Perhaps meeting someone in person who you may see in the street later will make a trip to Burlington a little more welcoming.
