On Tuesday, July 1 at 6:00 p.m., the Warren Public Library will have a party to celebrate the launch of the free Summer Reading Program designed for children of all ages and grades, from kindergarten through middle school.

Children from the Warren School have set summer reading goals for a collective goal of over 1000 hours of reading!! Come join the fun! This year’s theme is Science and the name of the program is “Fizz, Boom, Read!” Children participating in the program are encouraged to read, over the summer, as much as possible. And although the overall theme is science, books read may be on any topic and may include audio books, graphic novels, and books read aloud by a parent, sibling, or other caregiver. Participants will keep track of their reading in fifteen-minute increments, in reading logs. These logs will be distributed at the party and are also available at the library any time. At the end of the program, prizes of science kits and books will be awarded to those who have read the most minutes (in age groups 3-5, 6-8, 9-12). In addition, every child that turns in a reading log during the month of August will be given a coupon for a free ice cream treat at the Warren Store! The program is open for ongoing registration. Science-themed classes will be held at the Warren Library in July that tie-in with the theme (more here: http://www.warrenlibrary.com/warren/events.asp). Come to the kick-off party on July 1 and learn more! Light refreshments, including science-themed snacks, will be served.
