A+D Film Series: Olmsted & America's Urban Parks

Past event
Oct 19, 2022, 6 to 8 PM

Please join us in person Wed. evening at Contois Auditorium in Burlington's City Hall for a free screening of Olmsted and America's Urban Parks. Guest speaker Greg DeVries, ASLA of Heritage Landscapes, LLC will provide an introduction highlighting the breadth of the Olmsted firm's work in Vermont.

Frederick Law Olmsted designed New York City's Central Park with Calvert Vaux over 150 years ago and it remains an undisputed haven of tranquility amidst one of the most unnatural places on earth. The parks were to be vital democratic spaces where citizens from all walks of life could intermingle and be refreshed. This documentary weaves together Olmsted's engaging and poignant personal story with those of the masterpieces left for us today.

Doors open at 6pm with light refreshments, introduction begins at 6:30.
This event is brought to you by our generous sponsors, and is free and open to the public.
The film will be available to view online for 24 hours on Oct. 19th, log in at adfilmseries.org, and is also being screened in person at 118 Elliot St. in Brattleboro.
