WORDS OUT LOUD:
Where Text Meets Sound, Vermont Writers Across Genres
3:00 p.m.
Sunday, October 2
Old West Church [758 Old West Church Road]
Vermont essayist JERICHO PARMS and musician & songwriter BRIAN CLARK will each present their work for the final presentation in this year's WORDS OUT LOUD series, an event of Art at the Kent.
More about this Sunday's presenters:
BRIAN CLARK is a guitarist and songwriter with the Vermont-based band Anachronist. He also performs as a side musician for a variety of Central Vermont artists and creates music for Erica Heilman's Rumble Strip podcast. His solo record, "solo duo trio," includes fingerstyle instrumentals set alongside indie rock songs and traditional influences, with the heart of the record focused on song. His band, Anachronist, incorporates Angela Paladino's strong vocals and percussion, Phil Carr on drums, and Mike Donofrio on bass. Anachronist's most recent release is "Stay Late" (2020), the band's fourth record.
A fine woodworker in addition to being a fine musician, Brian lives in Calais with his wife and two sons.
[Plus! Joining Brian & his acoustic guitar will be Anachronist band vocalist ANGELA PALADINO, whose voice is a vehicle for much of Brian's recent songwriting.]
JERICHO PARMS is the author of "Lost Wax" (University of Georgia Press), a collection of essays . Her work has appeared in The Normal School, Hotel Amerika, American Literary Review, Brevity, and elsewhere, and has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize, noted in Best American Essays, and anthologized in Brief Encounters: A Collection of Contemporary Nonfiction, Waveform: Twenty-First-Century Essays by Women, and Don't Look Now: Things We Wish We Hadn't Seen. Jericho holds an MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts, and is a consulting editor at Fourth Genre.
