Calling all Birders! Gather at Rokeby Museum during Ferrisburgh Days and learn about an exciting app that can enhance your birding experience and enable you to be a citizen scientist contributing valuable information to a worldwide database used by conservation scientists. The eBird program was developed by and is maintained by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. It can be used on a pc, tablet, android or smartphone and by people at all levels of "computer literacy" and all levels of birding experience. With it you can
Find more birds
Keep track of your bird lists, photos, and sounds
Explore latest sightings from around the world
Join the world's largest birding community
Contribute to science and conservation
Jacob Crawford of Green Mountain Audubon and Dean Leary of Rokeby Museum will introduce you to eBird and show how this easy to use program can help you, and how you can help science. All you need is a well charged electronic device. Cell service makes it easier to use outside, but isn't necessary. Bring a pair of binoculars if you like. The workshop will take place Saturday, September 24 from 9 am to 10:30 am at Rokeby at 4334 Route 7, Ferrisburgh. You can practice using eBird and/or Merlin on the Sunday September 25 tour of the Ferrisburgh Town Forest with Jen Cirillo of the Ferrisburgh Conservation Commission.
