Introduction to Nepali Sarangi at the Library

Join the Winooski Memorial Library on Saturday, September 3rd at 12:30 PM for an introduction to Nepali sarangi! Community members will get to play this traditional bowed string instrument with Brian Perkins, a student of sarangi master Shyam Nepali.

- At the Winooski Memorial Library, 32 Malletts Bay Ave
- Free and open to all ages!

Brian Perkins will demonstrate playing the sarangi and then teach community members basic bowing and note formation. The workshop will also include playing madals (drums) and singing Nepali folk songs.

Brian Perkins is a performing musician and music educator based in Burlington, Vermont. He has recorded and performed with countless brass and traditional string bands, and he has studied Sarangi under the guidance of master teacher Shyam Nepali.
