This is a two-part event with an interactive plant ID session where participants will get up close with the most common plants found in Woodward Reservoir followed by an optional paddle in Woodward. Together we will learn how to recognize these plants, their importance in aquatic habitats, and what tools we use to observe them. We will also review what plants are considered invasive species and what we can do to reduce their impact and spread.
The optional paddle will take place in the second half of the afternoon. You can just come for the interactive plant session or stay for both! If you stay for the paddle, please bring your own watercraft (canoe, kayak, paddleboard) with you. For those who do not have access to a boat, but would like to join the paddle, we have limited numbers of canoes available upon request for those who are comfortable using a two-person canoe either individually or with another person.
This event is free and open to folks of all ages, families encouraged. Those under the age of 18 must have an adult with them for the event. Light refreshments are available during the events and participants are encouraged to bring their own water and snacks for the afternoon for a small break before the paddle.
