Antarctica Comes to Vermont!
Green Mountain Neighbors is pleased to sponsor "Antarctica comes to Vermont" presented by Sally Deinzer, a GMN member and daughter of John Dyer, who served as the chief radio engineer on Admiral Richard Byrd's Second Expedition (1934-1935) to Antarctica.
This event will be held on Saturday, February 8th from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. (inclement weather date is Sunday, February 9th) in the meeting room on the upper level of the Wallingford Town Hall. Parking is available along the street and at the school across the street. The meeting room is handicap accessible.
During this expedition, Admiral Byrd stayed by himself for an extended period "Alone" which happens to be the title of the book by Admiral Byrd about his adventure.
The video that will be shown has been transferred from 8 mm films that were shot by Dyer during the expedition. There will be time for questions.
Admission is free for members and volunteers with GMN while others will be charged $5.00. All are welcome to attend this event, wherever you live. The meeting hall has a capacity of 90.
Light refreshments will be available.
Green Mountain Neighbors is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization serving older residents in the communities of Mount Holly, Shrewsbury and Wallingford in assisting them to "age in place."
