Come join your neighbors this weekend at the City's Gateway Corridor Project. We will be updating building and zoning regulations on East Allen St, Main St and Malletts Bay Ave. (Did you know most of the current regulations date to 1981?) The Gateway project is being led by the nationally-recognized planning firms of Ferrell Madden with Dreher Design Associates, Inc. and Urban Advantage.
Some important dates: The kick off meeting will be at the O'Brien Community Center on Friday, June 13 from 7:00-8:30 PM.
A hands-on public design session will also be at the OCC from 9AM to noon on Saturday, June 14. The public design session is an opportunity for community members to share their visions for the Gateway Corridors as well as listen to what your neighbors have to say about the future of our main streets. Our vision will become the basis for a 'form-based code' zoning that will guide future development and growth on the corridors.
For those of you not able to attend the public design session on Saturday the 14th, the design team will set up a mobile design studio at the Winooski Farmer's Market on Sunday, June 15.
On Wednesday, June 18, Ferrell Madden and Dreher Design will present their initial summary of our design as part of the community dinner.
More information and a schedule of events can be found on the Project website: www.winooskigateways.com.
The Winooski Planning Commission encourages the community to come out and add your voice to this important project shaping the future of our City.
