Secrets of Mount Philo: The history of Mount Philo, Vermont's first state park, is every bit as remarkable as the view from its summit. Come learn about this gem in our backyard: why it is the way it is, how its history fits into a boarder landscape history of Vermont and New England, and where evidence of this history lies hidden in plain sight on the mountain. The talk will include historic photos and maps, and early 20th century descriptions of the mountain, including poetry!
Judy Chaves lives in North Ferrisburgh, a few minutes from Mount Philo. She's been hiking the mountain for more than 20 years, and is the author of Secrets of Mount Philo: A guide to the history of Vermont's first state park. Copies of the guidebook will be on sale following the talk.
