Ukrainian and Lithuanian Summer Solstice Songs

Come and learn beautiful traditional summer solstice songs with Bozena Hrycyna, Pavi Mehta, and Maria Schumann. In Slavic and Baltic folk culture summer solstice is a huge event, celebrated with bonfires, flower wreath weaving, dancing and singing. In this workshop, you will learn Ukrainian "Kupalo" songs celebrating love and summer and Ivan Kupala -- Ivan the Bather, the spirit of summer solstice, as well as Lithuanian "sutartines", an ancient form of trance inducing round singing.

At Cate Hill Orchard, outside, 697 Shadow Lake Rd. Suggested donation $30.
