Learning About Knotweed and It's Control

Past event
Jun 4, 2022, 10 to 11:30 AM

The Waitsfield Conservation Commission and the Warren Conservation Commission are working to address the spread of Japanese Knotweed in the two Mad River Valley towns. Priority locations for concerted attention are along upper roadways and several locations along the Mad River. One such location is the Lareau Swim Hole in Waitsfield. If you'd like to learn about Knotweed, how it spreads and the damage it does to our local ecosystem AND the methods being employed to manage this invasive species, join us at the Lareau Swim Hole from 10:00 to 11:30. Bring some gloves and clippers if you have some so you can practice your Knotweed management skills. If this initiative is of interest, you will be welcome to join a group of community volunteers who will be working together over the course of the Knotweed growing season - now until mid-September.

This community learning and working session is part of the stewardMRV season kickoff.
