Waterbury Independence Day Parade - Yes It's On!

Past event
Jun 27, 5 PM to 10 PM, Jun 28, 2014

Rumor has it that there will be no parade in Waterbury this year for Not Quite Independence Day (NQID). I wanted to let folks know that this is not true. We will have a parade in the village as we have done for as long as I can remember.

The theme this year is Waterbury in a Word....what does that mean exactly? It means that people are limited only by their imagination. A while back I asked folks for words that described Waterbury and received many wonderful responses. It is that sense of community and what each of us feels about our town that was a deciding factor for the theme this year. I encourage folks to be creative and to come up with floats that represent Waterbury, incorporating their chosen word into the float.

The float that best represents the theme will be honored with the fabulous rotating trophy, designed by Sara Lee Terrat. This year we will also be judging the best patriotic float, which will be judged prior to the parade and will be honored through parade recognition.

Details of the parade route are still being worked out, as we are unable to line-up behind the State Complex this year. As organizers of this event we too have needed to be creative and to work outside the box to make changes based on circumstances beyond our control.

If you are interested in learning more about the parade or would like to sign up with a float, please contact Sally at 802-498-3761 or by emailing her at wfdflorians@comcast.net.
