You may be old enough to know that a 'Hootenanny' is a leftover term from the '60s or so, when folks would pick up their guitars or banjos and come together for joyous music making. A 'Houghtonanny' is a Hootenanny led by me, Don Houghton. No one needs to bring a guitar or a banjo - unless you want to, of course - but I have a good number of the songbook 'Rise Up Singing', which I'll pass out as we sit in a circle. I'll choose the first song, we all sing it - and when that's done, I'll invite proposals for a next song to sing. We'll proceed in that fashion, song by song, chosen by those in attendance. It's been fun in the past...no reason why it shouldn't be fun again on Saturday! (Note: all kinds of singing voices welcome.)
So, I'll be at the Library tent on the Common this Saturday at 6:30, and we'll keep it going for an hour or so. If you've got a folding chair to bring along, bring it along.
Questions, comments, concerns - be in touch.
Don Houghton(anny).
