Congratulations to Mark and Amy McElroy for having had their Historical Society fundraiser raffle ticket picked from among all those that had been bought over the course of the Summer. Congratulations to Mark and Amy McElroy for having had their Historical Society fundraiser raffle ticket picked from among all those that had been bought over the course of the Summer. Carrie's piece was inspired by a photograph taken of that scene by Arthur Rothstein, a FSA photographer who happened to be in town that day. That photo, and others taken the same day, are available for viewing and download at the Library of Congress.
There are still several Mary Azarian woodcut bags available @$25. They make great gifts; let me know if you'd like one.
It has been a busy season for the Historical Society. Our major public events included a community discussion centered around Elliot Merrick's book Green Mountain Farm, as well as the celebration of the 70th anniversary of Alfred Hitchcock's filming of The Trouble With Harry in town in 1954. In addition, we're at 50 - and counting - Craftstory interviews and readings on SoundCloud.com. (you can find them by going to SoundCloud, and searching 'CHS Craftstories'.)
Although he museum is closed now for the winter, it's still not too late to show your support for our work of preserving and disseminating our town's historical heritage. You can send your contribution in any amount to Craftsbury Historical Society, PO Box 38, 05827.
Thanks to all,
Don Houghton
