VTrans requested multiple reminders -- this will be the last one from me (I promise!):
On June 2nd the Vermont Agency of Transportation will host a public forum on the East Montpelier Village Bridge project, which includes both the replacement of the bridge and the reconstruction of the adjoining VT Rtes. 2/14 intersection. VTrans will provide updated plans and will solicit public comment. The new concept is to use the VTrans Accelerated Bridge Program to do the entire project in one construction season rather than the old plan’s two seasons. This will require a full closure of VT Rte. 14 S at the bridge for up to 75 days (no more temporary bridge), but will save significant time and money, reduce traffic delays, and allow for a safer construction environment. The target date is the 2016 construction season. The meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the U-32 Middle/High School cafeteria. The VTrans notice for the forum can be seen here: http://eastmontpeliervt.org/june-2nd-vtrans-public-information-meeting/
If you saw Rubin Bennett's posting yesterday, you know that there are some concerns regarding this new VTrans construction plan. The forum will be an excellent chance to hear about the plan directly from the project manager and the design team as well as offering an opportunity to provide feedback.
